Does Booba have more in him?

What about some French rap...

In France, there are two artists who fare well in the concert stakes, Maitre Gims and... Booba. If you're a Wati-B or 92i fan, you know that the two heavyweights of French rap have already worked together on a song, albeit not very well known. And for one of them, Booba, it is rumoured that he is preparing a new (MAJOR) album!

It all started with a leak, or rather an unplanned announcement... The new album by the self-proclaimed 'Duc de Boulogne' was posted on Facebook by his sworn enemy Rohff. The latter stated that an album by Booba would be out on 4 December, the same day as his mixtape #LeRohffGame. We don't yet know if the 'Padre of the Rap Game' (Rohff) sabotaged the 'surprise' album of the 'Boss of the Rap Game' (Booba), but we can be sure that the war between the two rappers isn't over.

In any case, we can wonder at the impact of the 'Boulbi' rapper on French rap. While his album Futur, released in 2012, has just been crowned Double Platinum with 200,000 sales, his latest opus, D.U.C., from last April, struggled to get into second gear. Booba reckons that to sit on the throne, you'll have to sit on his knees, but the young generation is starting to prove to French rap that the pigeons can in fact fly with the eagles. Just take Nekfeu, who sold 80,000 copies of his album 'Feu' in half the time that it took Booba. Eazi!

So if the rumour about a new album by the Duc de Boulogne is true, we may be seeing him putting his foot down on the rap game highway to bury his young competition and increase his lead on his direct competitors.

J'ai une bonne nouvelle!!! Et une toute pourrit.... Commençons par la toute pourrit : Désirant imiter la sortie caché du...

With his two latest clips, 'Validée' and 'Attila', Booba blends ambiances, first zouk against autotune in 'Validée', then back to rap-zer in 'Attila' and quite frankly, we love it. Autotune is gradually starting to regain its popularity, particularly with PNL (you know, Ademo and N.O.S. who formed the group PNL, from Essonne), and most of all it's good to see B2O again with a purely rap, street song like 'Attila'. The 'Duc' is clocking up the hits against his rivals and it seems like he wants to prove to one and all that he is well and truly the 'Boss of the Rap Game'.

Whatever the case, 92i will be at Bercy for a massive concert on 5 December, which is the day after the possible release of his new album. Chance or coincidence, one thing is certain: when we found out we went crazy.

Our reaction if the rumour turns out to be true:
